“Sharpie” Mugs

These mugs are always being messed up and honestly I don’t think there is a perfect solution, however I have found a way to keep them a little better than I have seen before. First instruction, NEVER DISHWASH!

What you need for this project:

  • White porcelain or corning ware mugs (cleaned and dried)
  • Paint pens (sharpie paint pens or craft smart)
  • An oven

This project is all up to the imagination, so you really should browse etsy, pinterest and that noggin of yours for some creative designs. Once you have your general plan you can either freehand your design or draw it in pencil then trace over it with the paint pens. Pick a color that you like the most for the paint pens, the corning ware looks incredible with the gold paint pens. It is very important to try not to use stencils, they do not work with paint pens and often the paint runs underneath and blurs the paint.

When you’ve achieved the mugs you were going for, place the mugs on a cookie sheet and slide them into your un-preheated oven. It is important that you don’t preheat it because the intense change in heat can cause the mugs to crack. Once the mugs are in the oven, turn the oven on bake at 350 degrees and “bake” for 30 minutes. When the timer dings, take out your mugs and allow to cool.

Remember to only wash by hand and try to avoid the art work and outside of the mugs if possible. Enjoy!
